The SurfAid International Schools Program, supported by Billabong, is an education program providing online delivery of free educational resources. It gives students an opportunity to learn about the geography, economy, culture, health and living conditions of the 74,000 people of the Mentawai Islands. Students and teachers can examine important global issues, raising their social awareness and encouraging them to become better global citizens.


The SurfAid Schools Program, supported by Billabong, is a five-year global educational program available for free online to teachers and students in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Europe.

The teaching units are written to the educational standards mandated by the participating countries and reflect The Schools Program is collaboration between SurfAid International, Billabong, the education sector, students, parents and teachers.

The goal of the Schools Program is to provide students with the opportunity to examine important global issues through various content areas in standards based lessons that raise their social awareness and encourage them to become better global citizens while learning about life in the Mentawai Islands.
