MALARIA FREE MENTAWAI PROGRAM

GOAL  Work with village communities and existing health services to reduce the burden of malaria throughout the Mentawai.

MENTAWAI COMMUNITY BASED HEALTH PROGRAM 

GOAL To improve the health of vulnerable persons in SurfAid target areas and reduce mortality in children under five years of age by improving hygiene, sanitation, nutrition, provision of health services and reduce rates of malaria.

TIMELINE 
+ April 2004 to January 2006 (Malaria Control Project)
+ February 2006 to March 2009 (Expanded & renamed Mentawai Community Based Health Program)

NIAS COMMUNITY BASED HEALTH PROGRAM

GOAL To improve the health of vulnerable persons in SurfAid target areas along the coastal areas of Nias Island and reduce mortality in children under five years of age by improving clean water availability, hygiene, sanitation, malaria reduction, nutrition, and improved health services.

TIMELINE October 2005 until September 2008

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROJECT

GOAL To assist vulnerable communities prepare for future disasters.

TIMELINE July 2006 until June 2009

KATIET COMMUNITY PROGRAM

GOAL To implement activities in addition to the Mentawai Community Based Health Program which will serve as a model that can be replicated in other villages.
