Dire Situation for Mentawai Islanders as SurfAid Runs Earthquake Relief Effort
In response to two powerful earthquakes having struck the region of the Mentawai Islands, SurfAid International is currently receiving donations for relief efforts where SurfAid has been and continues to provide humanitarian services.
SurfAid has visited and assessed more than 100 Mentawai villages and launched eight relief boats delivering food, shelter, medical attention, fuel, and building supplies to some of the 30,000 displaced residents. Additional support is needed to continue these efforts. Please support the people of the Mentawai Islands with a contribution to the Mentawai Earthquake Appeal.

SIMA and Liquid Nation Do It Again!
For the fourth time, Liquid Nation has exceeded expectations and raised $250,000 for humanitarian charities, including SurfAid International. Special thanks goes out to the Surf Industry Manufacturer's Association (SIMA), event hosts Fernando & Vicki Aguerre and Santiago & Cecelia Aguerre, and everyone who contributed to making this event such a great success!
Surpassing SIMA’s expectations, it is estimated that more than $250,000 was raised at the 4th annual Liquid Nation Ball. Held at the spectacular La Jolla oceanfront residence of Fernando and Vicky Aguerre, the guest list read like the Who’s Who of the surf industry. Surf icons Rob Machado, Lisa Andersen, Greg Noll, Paul Naude, Bob McKnight, Dick Baker and more all enjoyed great food, dancing and a highly entertaining live auction in which the host himself, Fernando Aguerre, Vice-President of the SIMA Humanitarian Fund, Co-Founder of Reef, and Advisory Board Member for SurfAid literally sold the pants he was wearing for the sake of charity.

Soundwaves Cologne Benefit Event for SurfAid on August 25, 2007
Thanks goes out to Christian and the organizers of Soundwaves Cologne! About 300 guests raised a total amount of EUR 1330 which is great considering the trifecta of challenges: no one had never heard about SurfAid International, Germany has hardly any surf culture and Cologne is about 400 kilometers away from the nearest ocean! You can look at pictures of the night at www.myspace.com/soundwaves2007.
